A functional piece of art.

The goal of this Sculpted Cabinet was to turn an everyday piece of furniture into a one of a kind piece of art.

The doors and drawer fronts are constructed using a process called stacked lamination. Thirteen boards all cut from the same tree to ensure grain and colour continuity are roughly carved using power tools, then glued together and carved by hand to refine the flowing shapes.

When closed, the natural curves of the doors and drawers meet seamlessly with the straight hard edges of the outer shell, providing a unique element to an otherwise ‘standard’ piece of furniture.

The doors and drawers to the Sculpted Cabinet are all push to open to ensure natural lines without the use of exposed hardware.
