As a child, Nick was obsessed with woodwork. Always tinkering away, using different materials to build fun things. A combination he used a lot was combining light and dark woods together.

It’s only natural that as you progress as a maker you continually want to try new ideas and possibly even let go of old ones.

Nick hadn’t used the light and dark wood combination for many years in fear that it was more of a beginners technique rather than a professional’s technique.

But the overwhelming response he received from this piece on his socials reminded him that this combination is well and truly a desired look.

But most importantly, this piece is a lesson in not getting caught up in your own perceptions.

This Tasmanian Oak Sideboard is accented perfectly with Walnut inlays, which are positioned perfectly in order to create a subtle feature, using an old technique.
